Living in an apartment can make it difficult when it comes to storage of your wine. So after doing my calculations I figured a 50 bottle undercounter wine refrigerator that would fit snugly into a space I already had available in my kitchen island unit would be just the thing.

1. We consume 3-4 bottles of wine with meals a week – this includes friends coming over
2. One months supply equates to around 18 bottles of wine – allow for 2 months stock that makes 36 bottles.
3. Plus I want a little extra room for a few bottles of champagne and dessert wines that can stay there for any length of time – and I can break them out for some special occasion.

Ok, that is  a pretty rough calculation but you know close enough is good enough and it is better to err on the side of a having little extra space than having too little.

So here is what I came up with as the perfect undercounter wine refrigerator for an apartment dweller.

The specs are great – very modern looking with stainless steel doors and tinted thermopane glass window. Its compact yet can store up to 50 bottles of wine – and it can be a standalone unit (awesome if you are leasing your apartment), or can be permanently built in to your island unit or bench top.

In terms of wine storage it has everything I need for my apartment lifestyle, and it looks great without dominating my living space
